just went through an embarrassing ordeal... this is why you take MSF course before getting on the road

Got my first bike EX500 in Nov wit HK and wuz... didn't come with an op manual, only serv manual. i scheduled MSF soon after but had to bump it twice because I was too busy. Finally took the course yesterday.

On the way back from campus today, engine was slow to get going. cold night, waited a while and finally got it going. after about a mile engine failed on me in the middle of a busy street. had to put it to the side and walk home. On my way back home, i realized what the problem was because of something i learned from MSF that I had no idea about previously. Returned to the bike, fixed the prob and road off.

Can you guess what went wrong? Winner gets a prize

didnt turn the choke off? lol.

switch from/to reserve! <--- thats really my guess.

Were you speeding up or slowing down?

my guess.....you didn't turn the choke off and you flooded the engine with fuel when it warmed up and it bogged down and stalled

Forgot to take the petcock out of the off position? Happened to me many times with my old ex500.
