Im new to San Diego, I just moved here with the family from Seattle. I have been on other forums and love to ride with groups small or big.

Hope I can join some of your rides and learn some new roads!

Today I went to Borrego Springs (in my truck Sad)   So I am eager to do it on a bike !

Chris

right now I ride a 2001 cbr 929, I am thinking of trading up a few years, I think I am ready for something a little newer and faster.

Welcome to San Diego, where you can ride pretty much all day every day all year-round!
Minus maybe the 10 days that it decides to rain...

Hope to see on the streets sometime!

I live in PB, and yes I will be attending sdcc.

Can anyone tell me where I can find a good mechanic for some upgrades.

Definitely hit up Ivan and Ivan's Fast Bikes

http://www.yelp.com/biz/ivans-fast-bikes-san-diego

Free 1 hour diagnostics and $65/hr labor rate, which is $10 lower than the average around here. Also 10% discount for military and students, which is also a plus.

theres a good one bout 10 minutes from school. Just pull into my driveway, hell be the guy walking downstairs asking why youre so close to his 10R.   Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

Seriously though, go with what Lonny said. Never been to a shop for them to do work other than tire changes and one chain replacement in my life.

Thanks for the heads up on the mechanic, I never go to dealers for work either,I belonged to PNWriders in washington and had the best mechanic, he was a racer and control rider who had a sweet shop at his house.

I have a 2001 929 with 21k, I thought about trading it in on something newer but then I decided to upgrade it.

I want new exhaust, full tune up, and maybe a clutch if whoever I take it to thinks it needs it.

Ivan'll definitely set you straight. As for exhausts, I'd look on forums for one, you can probably get some pretty sweet deals, and if necessary Ivan can just install it for you.

Other option to be a little cheaper is put the exhaust on yourself. That can save you a nice bit of money. Just have to pull fairings, loosen the radiation attachment to the bottom so it swings freely and unbolt the 8 flanges from the block, plus wherever else its being held on to. Do the reverse with the new exhaust and youre set.
