I went to Tijuana today with -Op- , got lost as $hit! So I actually got a call from an insurance agent saying that my bike has been found in Tijuana and is in the US Consulate there, we tried looking for it and got lost. BTW, we came back into the states with only our driver's licenses. Also, the cops haven't even received word that my bike has been found. I reported my bike stolen about 5 minutes after I found out and when I asked the detective assigned to my case he said "I'll look into it tomorrow." Not the best feeling I've ever had from all the taxes I pay.

You're super lucky they even found it... Usually they steal bikes and start taking them apart IN the van on the way to mexico.

Sounds like you'll be getting your bike back tho.

Get insurance, its worth it - it doesnt matter how well you chain up a bike, if someone wants to get it, they'll get it.

if you get the bike back....just a heads up.....you'll probably get a salvage title with the bike which may make it hard to sell at that point  Undecided

It won't get a salvage title because the insurance company didn't get involved and the bike was actually ridden to Tijuana, it wasn't put in a Van. I think that's how they recovered it, because If understood Spanish well enough, the guy got pulled over in Mexico.

you sure the cops didn't report it to the insurance company?

considering you said: I actually got a call from an insurance agent saying that my bike has been found in Tijuana.....I would assume the insurance company knows about it.....

well...in any case I hope you get your bike back and everything works out okay! if you do get it back, insure the damn thing dude....haha
