you sure the cops didn't report it to the insurance company?

considering you said: I actually got a call from an insurance agent saying that my bike has been found in Tijuana.....I would assume the insurance company knows about it.....

well...in any case I hope you get your bike back and everything works out okay! if you do get it back, insure the damn thing dude....haha

The police didn't even ask what my insurance company was. And The agent that called me was an agent from a different company that retrieves stolen motorcycle for certain Insurance companies. My carrier wasn't one of them and after they told me my bike was found they didn't ask for anymore help because they knew they weren't going to get paid. I don't think they would file paperwork for my case if they're not going to get paid for it and they actually didn't even ask who my carrier was. So hopefully it doesn't come back with a salvage title. Neither Progressive or the cops even know that my bike has been found. Apparently the cops here don't do or here much about it until it reaches US soil again.

bikes are amazingly easy to hotwire and column locks are amazingly easy to break (just apply enough pressure by sitting on the bike and pushing on the handlebar with your leg). I'm guessing that's how Eric's bike got taken.

this is the reason why I spend more money on theft deterrent and insurance on my bike than anything else. however, all theft deterrents are exactly that...deterrents, and insurance is there in case those deterrents fail.

however, I will say that I have had more than 2 cases where my bike was attempted to be stolen and those deterrents worked (i have more than 1 alarm on my bike).

Wuzer is just about as on-point as you can get here. My bike was stolen in that way and yes, deterrents probably would have prevented a ton of this from happening.
