I'm basically starting this thread so that we can get an idea of what our bikes need to get done so that we can run it by NKB Motorcycles. I feel like if and when Aimen calls the owner, Kevin and tries to turn NKB into our first vendor, if he gives a bulk of the things that our riders will be needing to get done, Kevin might be more inclined to give us better deals. So just list the things you need to get done and hopefully you and the rest of us can get these things done at a much cheaper price here than anywhere else. Also list the gear you need. Let's make this UCSD community of motorcycles legit yall.

Well first off, as recommended, I need to change my chain and sprocket. I need a steel chain (w/ O-rings) and 1 up and 2 down on the sprockets. What do you think Aimen, should I get 1 up and 2 down or 3 down?

Anyways, I also need some new frame sliders and a full tune up right before Christmas break, Angela and I are riding back to the BAY AREA!!!

I know crazy right, but inevitably BEASTY!

I need:

General tune-up / scheduled maintenance as required by Triumph
Install frame sliders
Brake fluid change (should already be in scheduled maintenance)
HID installation (just ordered a set  Grin)

Want:
Chain and sprocket conversion & speedohealer
Tuneboy for custom fuel maps and diagnostic tuning

May end up ordering the parts and just bringing them with me if I end up going there.

As far as riding up to the Bay Area....that's like a good 7 hour ride no?
The 5 north is too boring and straight for me....and definitely not something I want to subject my bike to :p

I currently have 11,571 miles on the SV and it is running really good. The maintenance chart shows I need or am overdue for:
- replace air cleaner element
- replace spark plugs (still using the original)
- replace fuel hose .......................................how important is this?
- replace evap emission control system.............how important is this?
- replace brake hose......................................how important is this?
- Tires (6000 miles..rear is getting square and almost down to the replacement groove)

Been outta work for a month already due to an MCL injury but I might dip into savings and splurge on:
-Full gauntlet gloves
-Frame sliders
-Full leather suit
-Riding boots
-windshield???

Valdo, change your spark plugs and air filter for sure.
Check the fuel lines, brake lines (if you replace get SS ones).

If the things checked need replacement, do them.

Dunno what I want just yet. Dont really need anything. Bike is runnin well. However, would be nice to line up a group discount over at NKB, as they already have some pretty sweet deals lined up.

I need to do my bike's first oil change with the Golden Spectro oil recommended.
-Probably will find time this weekend to head to mi hermano's place and do it.

Frame sliders, Speedohealer and Leo Vince exhaust has been sitting in my apartment as well waiting to be installed haha.  Those after the oil change.

Just need to find that TIME

Monday is maintenance day!

Current SV650s odo:           13236 miles.
Replaced tires:                    5250 miles.

Current tire mileage:             7986 miles.

The rear tire should make it to 8500 miles very easily and legally. I have just a little bit to go till the tread replacement marker. The chain on my bike is the real problem. I was uncaring in the sense that my chain has tight spots; this was due to inexperience however and all the passionate lubrication every 300 miles was in vain.

Anywho, right now I am searching for a new chain and maybe a new sprocket. I am interested in a bike stand as well to accomodate future chain adjustments. A lot of people argue for the replacement of chain and sprockets together. I have researched and concluded a good general rule of thumb is "two chains to a (steel) sprocket". What you guys think? Can you sway my decision? Also, if you have any suggestions or brands that you swear by, please holler at me. I will be shopping.

Vendors: future rear tire replacement, chain replacement (sprocket replacement?), and shopping for a stand.  Cheesy

everyone on the other forums i'm on say chain and sprockets together.....and i tend to agree....

old chains will wear a new sprocket prematurely
that in turn will wear your chain even more

Bike stands are definitely helpful....(speaking of which, Lonny, I still have your stand so whenever you want to meet up to take it back.....haha)

I'd message Diego....he has really REALLY good deals on tires (199.95 for a set of Pilot Power 2CTs) and i'm sure he can get you a GREAT deal on sprockets and stands. Plus he's local....so you know where to find him Smiley

From what I know....for sprockets
1. supersprox - lifetime warranty i believe but they're darn hard to get a hold of / find in stock
2. pitbull aka sprocket specialists
3. vortex - anodized aluminum.....heard horror stories but never personally had them
4. driven - anodized aluminum....but i've heard horror stories so not too sure

If i was to get chain and sprockets for my Daytona....I'd definitely be going supersprox or pitbull...

Chains....I think the DID ERVIII chains are the best out there now....and they're not "that" pricey...
