What do you guys need done on your bike?

SDMoto - San Diego Sport Bike Motorcycle Forum Group/What do you guys need done on your bike? => I'm basically starting this thread so that we can get an idea of what our bikes need to get done so that we can run it by NKB Motorcycles. I feel

I need to re-tune my bike to my new shorty pipe so if anyone has a tuner and would like to help tune my bike it would be great.

re-tuning would involve dyno time and modifying fuel/air ratios....and i'm pretty sure none of us has a dyno :p
the other thin you could do.....would just be to get a power commander and they have tunes that should fit the majority of the mods done to your bike...

I need to get my fairing drill in order to put on my frame slider. Anyone know places for cheap?

Also need to put on the new air filter, but the stock air filter is held down by rivets which i have no idea how to get it out. Anyone got clue? Some people on forum said hammer it with flat head screw driver to break the head

NKB Cycles off of Miralani and Miramar Road does a lot of the work I can't personally do on my bike. If you go there and say I sent you or maybe even if you just talk to them they will definitely hook you up. They're nice guys. Talk to Kevin and just say Eric told you to go there. Or if you yourself is a nice guy who can hold a conversation you'll get hooked up anyway.

Does anyone wanna get together and do a maintenance day?  I can help with most of the stuff.  Does anyone have a spot that they wanna do it at?

Sprockets and chain
I always change the chain and sprocket at the same time...I have had the above happen to me...roached a new chain on an old sprocket and vice versa both with in one trackday.

Few things to note is that it doesn’t hurt to have extra links so a 120 link chain can be cut to size.  If possible get the rivet master links, they hold up much better.  Chain pitch is important in determining if you want longevity or weight savings...its not a huge difference but some can notice it.  525 will be heavier(wider) but will be more durable....you still have to maintain the chain properly though.  You can use 525 steel sprockets which will last forever and will be relatively cheaper.  The chain will be a little more due to more materials used.

520 is what most people race with and will have the most variety of sprocket sizes available.  They are almost always aluminum sprockets...some are a combo of both steel and aluminum though(pricier).  You can increase the acceleration by playing with the gearing...either by decreasing the countershaft sprocket size or increasing the rear sprocket.  Remember your speedo will be off unless you correct  it with a speedo healer of some sort.  This will also increase your odometer reading and decrease your fuel efficiency.  FYI

I have all the tools to change that stuff out with so if you guys wanna learn or do it we can work something out.

Chain: I would go with an ERV3 if you want the dopest and highest quality chain (read expensive)
RKs are the only other alternative I would go with.  I have used cheap chains and they just dont last as long.  Regina, EK, and whatever else I could get a deal on...

Sprockets:  I have used every under the sun...and what I would recommend is JT front sprocket (cheapest) because they are all steel countershaft sprockets...vortex or others might have punched out some holes for weight saving but its not really going to matter.  Rear sprockets I like the new sunstar stuff, Driven, and AFAM.  I only run vortex right now cause I have a ton of them...but they SUUUUCK

Frame sliders install, we just need a hole saw and I should have one if you want to cut them yourselves.  I do know that Lee’s Cycle can do it as well.  There are also some good no cut alternatives lately that may fit your bike, so you might want to look at that.

Dyno tuning:  I know that Lee’s is the best for dyno tuning in san diego and they tune all my stuff.  There are generic maps on dynojets website, but they are rough and are definitely not tuned for your exact bike(all bikes are different hence the need for a custom map)
I can help with basic stuff if your bike is running a little rough at certain spots...

Let me know if anyone wants to get together?
